Rain on Your Parade

When choosing an Ebay market to go into people generally
look at what is the most popular items. Although this may seem
like a great idea if you look at the bigger picture you will see it is not.
The more popular items such as female clothing
(ebayuk) may seem like an appealing market due to it’s size but
there are factors a new, budding, Ebay entrepeneur needs to
take into account.

Larger markets means more listings and in some cases can
result in an Ebay sandbox where your listing is sandwiched
between 13,000 others which means it would have to be
something special to acheive success.

* A large market = alot of competition
* Alot of competition = Lower prices

* Lower prices = Less profit

I have an example of my own for you…

I travel alot to Bulgaria with my wife. While on a visit I bought two beautiful 14 carat gold ladies rings with zirconia stones
(in an average size) for about 25GBP. I thought PERFECT I’ll make a tidy profit on these.

I got back to England made a professional listing, took some great photos and listed them with a start price of 15GBP
each. I ended up listing each ring 4 times, needless to say they didn’t sell…and the reason…for rings alone there were
over 12,000 listings.
